Past-Life Regression

I recently returned from getting trained in Past Life Regression Hypnotherapy techniques by Dr. Brian Weiss and Carole K. Weiss at the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies in New York. The workshop was an amazing experience. For a week I joined 150 other people from countries around the world as we gathered to participate in daily group past life regressions led by Dr. Weiss, break-out practice sessions, demonstrations of past life regression techniques, informative Q&A sessions and other valuable learning experiences including a beautiful guided meditation led by Carole. The grounds of Omega were a perfect setting for doing this type of learning and work. The serene setting at the lake was a perfect opportunity to contemplate and reflect. I even got up early every morning to do an hour of Qigong, which is saying something since I am more of a night owl than an early bird!

I had some very interesting personal past life regression experiences. In one memory, I saw myself as a male warrior in Rome, wearing warrior garb standing in a battlefield. This scene seemed to be the point where I was coming to a decision not to engage in physical fighting any more. It was the point in my lifetimes (or in this cycle of lifetimes) when I decided to be done with physical fighting. I saw myself go onto the battlefield and perish at the hand of another warrior. I have been thinking a lot about this memory and it does make sense to me. I believe I have had other lifetimes as a warrior because I feel drawn to weapons; in particular, I feel a great affinity to historical Japanese weapons, especially archery.

Dr. Weiss is well-known for his book entitled Many Lives, Many Masters which details his experiences with a patient named Catherine who began recalling past-life traumas that seemed to hold the key to her recurring nightmares and anxiety attacks. Catherine’s regressive experiences not only helped her to heal, they transformed Dr. Weiss’s life as well.

Past life regression is based on the idea that we are eternal beings, that we are souls having a human experience. We reincarnate lifetime after lifetime in different bodies. Through hypnotic regression we are able to access the memories from our past lives. People who have experienced mental, emotional and/or physical pain in their current life have been able to heal that pain and trauma through the use of past life regression.

Using past life regression hypnotic techniques, I’ve helped people to break through a creative blockage and begin writing again; gain new insights and inner knowledge; feel deep love and warmth; and deepen a relationship with a family member, feeling a deeper sense of gratitude for this person. One of the reasons someone would want to do a past life regression is to learn and grow, to get past certain patterns or habits so that people can experience more joy, comfort, happiness and love. I think that one thing I’ve learned from my past life regression experience of being a warrior in Rome is that I want to engage with other people in a new way, not by fighting but by relating with other people in a way that is cooperative, harmonious and peaceful. I suspect I’ve been learning how to do this for many incarnations between my Rome lifetime and my current life.
